Park is well maintained. Several campsites beside the lake and sites are spaced apart comfortably. Area 1 & 3 have older small/cramped bathhouses. All bathrooms need a more frequent cleaning schedule. Free washer/dryer. ATT cell had one bar lte. None of the sites have active cable connection any longer. Free WiFi but signal is weak when campground becomes about half full. There is a road across the lake from the campground that has moderate traffic but it鈥檚 very loud due to closeness.
There are a couple short trails that are flat and easy to hike, we saw deer every day. Nice frisbee golf course and archery/air rifle range for a small fee. Also a nice golf course. Mariana and restaurant were closed the week we were there. They had the lake levels lowered so much that the cove next to campground had more land than water so no fishing.

This is a great park and campground. The sites are good sized and the loop that is not on the water has huge sites. Electric , water , cable and some have full hookup. Nice clean restrooms and showers and free washer and dryer.

We stayed in campground area 1 and had a site with a lake view. Nice mature trees in the camping area. Park overall is very well kept. We ate at the lodge restaurant and the food was good. The lodge and marina area is very pretty. My husband played golf and enjoyed the course. A lot of roadways in the park and we felt comfortable riding our bikes. The bathhouses are in need of an update otherwise I would have left 5 stars.

Beautiful and well kept park. Huge sites. Very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the 3rd loop on site 58. Very private site with our door facing the woods. It was very nice not being on top of neighbors. Clean and well maintained bathhouse. We will be back!

Spent 2 nights here for a quick Spring Break trip. Weather was perfect. Stayed on site 11. Nice level site angled so you have a an unobstructed lake view. Bring the fishing poles! My son caught a 3.5lb large mouth bass. Bathhouse was clean. Playground was in good condition. Campground Roads are narrow which was nice for kid safety. There was one REALLY tight spot between site 10 and 11. It芒鈧劉s nerve wracking, but even the Class As made it through.
There is nothing nearby to do except what is on the grounds. There are 2 gas stations just outside the park. One has a fully stocked 芒鈧揼eneral store芒鈧 that has a meat counter, small produce section, wine, beer, and all the grocery staples you could need. There appeared to be several little restaurants just outside the park, but as of April 2021 they were closed. I芒鈧劉m jot sure if they are seasonal or closed for good.
Explore the park! We checked out the veterans museum at the visitors center/camp registration building. Great display of military vehicles on site. The kids really enjoyed that. The marina was closed for boat rentals during the week, its still early for that though. The beach had a nice shallow swimming area, lots of shaded picnic spots, and a sand volleyball court nearby. The walking trails were easy and clear, good for little kids. We didn芒鈧劉t check out the frisbee golf, golf, or archery/air rifle range.
The SAM Shortline railway station is on site but check their schedule. As of now they only run on weekends.
We had lunch at the Marina Grill. Food was decent, but it was overpriced and the service was slower than molasses in winter. Save your money and eat on the rig. They do make good Bloody Mary though.

Great lakeside park to stay overnight on our way home from Florida

Camped here Feb.14-18, 2019. Very nice, level lakeside sites. Good kayaking and the potential for good fishing (we had no luck). As noted in other reviews, lots to do here in the park. Excellent Verizon 4G and cable TV at campsites. Only complaint was the rundown bathroom/shower in campground loop 1. The sign says excuse our mess as we remodel, but there was no remodeling going on... only a mess. Hence the 4 star rating. Also, at $45/day plus $5/day for a park pass, this park is rather expensive, especially given that sites don't have sewer. You can mitigate the cost by purchasing a Friends of Georgia State Park membership. The above notwithstanding, on balance it's a nice place and we would return again.

Camped there 10/22/2017 for 2 nights. Great Park with lots of activities. Thomas the train rides. Haunted trail walks 9 - 11pm. Military vehicle and aircraft field. Frisbee golf. Fishing. Museum. Marina with Cypress grill/bar open until 2 am. Live band most Friday and Saturday 9 - midnight. Most of activities are private but easily within walking distance. Could be buggy but it was cool this time of year. Clean well placed bathhouses. Go to Andersonville cemetery and national Park but have fuel. There are no restaurants or fuel near Andersonville.

Lovely campground with sites on the lake. Level, packed gravel, bordered by 6x6" planks. Tall trees, green grass. Clean bathhouses, laundry. Park trails thru piney woods. Southern GA gnats seek noses, eyes, mouths - so be forewarned, bring screening.

We just pulled in and are enjoying our campsite right on the lake with the fishing, herons and egrets. You can make reservations but you selectt your site after you get here so come early on busy days. But do not trust your GPS, main entrance is on Rt 280. Go to the visitors center to pick up your pass.
