Pretty nice public campground. Nice friendly staff. No issues with other campers. Can get a little busy with kids and such but overall quiet. Spots are spaced out well enough but are very open so not much in the way of natural privacy. Saw rays in the water and many beautiful birds. If you get lucky you can spot manatees and dolphins as well. Along with the other county parks, this is the cheapest campground you'll find in the area. Had an electrical issue that was fixed quickly. Bathrooms in pretty good shape. Very bold raccoons around. One camper said they raccoons took her $150 headphones lol. Anytime we cooked over fire 4-6 would gather and watch from the treeline. Often on top of or stuck in the dumpsters, but they scare off easy enough. More campsites than the other county parks so it's easier to get a spot with little hassle. About 45min to an hour from Tampa or Sarasota. Small beach swimming area but it's more for the kids.
The Nociums are bad and hard to repel, but i didn't find it worse than an area with a lot of mosquitos, which are not present in this park at all.
I would stay again if in the area. It's a good fallback if Lithia Springs is full.

It芒鈧劉s hard to find anything wrong with this campground. Friendly staff and rangers, large level sites with water and electric, two dump stations, great fishing or kayaking, huge swimming beach, clean restrooms, fees are very reasonable, etc.
There is one nasty thing, the No-see-ums!!! Smallest I芒鈧劉ve ever seen with a giant bite and bug sprays don芒鈧劉t seem to stop them. It芒鈧劉s a shame because otherwise it is a perfect park. Looking for a no-see-um tent and effective bug spray, because we don芒鈧劉t want to leave.

The sites are huge, but not particularly level. Staff needs training. We had a fellow camper threaten us. Spoke with staff later and were informed oh, that芒鈧劉s x, he芒鈧劉s got brain damage, and hes not fully with it. Thanks. Then I had a neighbor pull his 20 foot trailer in and, unable to back it into his 60 by 90 site he decided to set it up mostly on my site. I went to the front desk, who sent out the 芒鈧渉ead ranger芒鈧. 芒鈧淗ead ranger芒鈧, lacking the cajones to tell my neighbor to park on his own incredibly spacious site, said it was fine!. i then end up with neighbor芒鈧劉s screaming children and loose dog taking over my entire site for the evening, with neighbor blaring music loud enough to be heard halfway across the campground. . Of, course, the rangers leave at five and have left this debacle to me. Contesting the change with the credit card company.

Beautiful. Large flat sites. Some with 50 amp. All seem to be $18 @ 55yr, $24 full. Only issue we have is we came for one night to check it out, and are not allowed again until 14 days pass because the computer will not let us return. We should have waited until we had a few days to arrive. Hopefully they fix that system sometime.

The park was great....especially if you walk down to the peninsula where the fisherman go. Great views of the city from across the water. We saw a school of dolphins while having our morning coffee. We had to leave our site early due to gnats...they were horrible. If there was a breeze it would not have been an issue. We also noticed a drive-in movie theater on the way out. Bathrooms were clean and sites were spacious. If over age 55 its only $18 a night. $24 if not...not so bad for a nice spot with water/electric.

What a gorgeous, well maintained park! Large roomy sites, most with water access to the mangrove canals. Clean plentiful bath houses. Now for the bad: the bugs were horrendous! Black flies, mosquitoes, and no See-uhms. It was almost impossible to go outside without being eaten alive. It was a shame, but we had to leave early because of the bugs. I'm sure there must be a season where the bugs aren't so bad but we hit the bad season.

This is a very nice park, especially if you enjoy fishing. We camped here for 3 weeks in February 2016 and fished most every day. Lots of shore fishing spots as well as canoe and kayak rentals.
Note that this park does not take reservations,. We had to wait 3 days in the "holding section" ( no power or water) until we could get a site. In 2016 the rules changed with regards to length of stay. You have to pay for either 14 or 28 days at a time, and they have different sites designated for each length of stay. It's a messed up system, but even if you don't stay all the days you pay for, it's still cheap at $18/day senior rate. The website is worthless insofar as information like the aforementioned 14/28 day rule, so I advise calling ahead and asking about such details. They appear to change their rules annually.

Lovely, nicely developed park. Roomy sites that back up to water. Lots of wildlife, especially raccoons who have apparently been fed by campers.
Sites have H2O and electric hookup, and there are easy to access dump stations. Showers and restrooms well cleaned each day. Friendly, helpful park rangers. Senior discount.
No reservations, so getting in on weekends is difficult. There is an overflow area with no hookups while waiting for a site.
Will definitely return

Second review: We stayed at this Park in April. We like it so much, we extended our stay over the weekend. Unfortunately, we had 20+ people next to us on the site. During the week the Rangers appeared to enforce the Quiet Hours, but clearly did not on the weekend. Two tents and 20 people will always be a problem. Sad because this Park has nice clean, big sites. Very clean, nice bathrooms, and was getting five stars, until, I lost two nights sleep. Never again will we consider staying here.
Original review: Very nice County Park near Sun City. We camped in early April and there were no lack of nice large sites with trees and on the water. They have electric and water hook-ups and a dump station. The campground is gated and has security like most everything we have seen in this area. Quiet hours are enforced by the Ranger. We camped in a 30 foot travel trailer with one slide. Very, very, clean bathrooms. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a first come first stay park, so get here early. It has two different areas for camping. The left side has more water access so try the left first. All most all the sites have water access behind them, so that was real cool. We biked all over the park after hours and it was great. They do have a beach, but no dogs allowed there. We have stayed here a few times now and its worth the last minute check. Don't forget to bring cash. They do not accept credit cards.
