Unique campground at the end of the glades. Spacious and flat with lots of room. Clean but no hot water for showers. No cell or internet, but that is not why you go there. Book early, sold out in the winter time

We really loved it here but future visitors should know a few things. First, no internet - none, zilch. Second, no cell phone service - none at all. Third, when making RV reservations, ensure that you specify electrical service. If you don't, you may end up in the back with your only option being to run your GENSET, which must be turned off at 8PM. Third, it's almost 40 miles from the park entrance to Flamingo. Be aware that the nearest gas stations are in Florida City, another 20+ miles before you get to the gate. Finally, ONLY VISIT BETWEEN JANUARY AND MARCH! We were there in February and it was wonderful weather and little or no bugs. After March, all this changes. Mosquitos become prevalent and the heat (with humidity) can get oppressive! But if you love getting back to nature, seeing it before civilization changed everything, taking boat tours into the back country and a peaceful easy lifestyle, then this is the place for you! We loved it and have already reserved a space for next February!

We stayed in Late February-early March. Big level sites, lots to do including back country boat rides. It’s obviously a campground you have to want to go to, but we think it’s worth the effort, even with the bugs. Just bring your Deet.

The whole secret to Flamingo, from a local who has worked there (and lives in Miami), is that there are two seasons, wet and dry. During January, February and March of a typical year, the Park will be dry and there will have been a couple of short lived cold fronts. This combination will make the mosquito situation easily manageable.
You may get lucky and survive a visit in December or early April. From mid-April to at least mid-December, the mosquitos are intolerable. If you are zipping in, drenched in Deep Woods Off, just to launch your boat and get out on the open water, you may survive. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CAMP.

OMG a lot of Mosquitos and others insects. I couldn’t be outside only inside of the camper.
I do not recommend this site during the mosquitos or other insects season, really really bad. Money wasted.
Sorry about this review!

We really felt adventurous, and pulled in without reservations. Though we could only stay a couple days we really enjoyed this park. Yes, there are mosquitoes, but not any worse than the keys for May. Wearing long pants and shirts make this place tolerable, and don’t expect to cook outside without at least fans... we were the only ones staying in the RV side but there were several campers in the tent side. This is a fantastic park, and lots to see and do.

Check with park service first, we didn't drive in because it was closed due to mosquito season. They are normally bad, but said it was unusually bad this year. Ranger said this is where big spray companies come to test their products.

Breathtakingly beautiful and great for boat n fish. Worst mosquitos ever, we had bugs spray n were covered in blood from smashing the skeeters.
We reserved 2 weeks, couldn't get anybody on phone to change. Nobody at gate at 4pm on weekday. Nice host sd park anywhere.
We paid for 2 weeks but never stayed. Unbearable

I have camped all over the USA. This area of Florida has the highest population of Mosquito's. If you just plan on just staying in your RV you will be ok....but don't plan on having a campfire, or enjoying anything outside. I ran as fast as I could, shook off my clothes, jumped in the Camper and still had to kill 12 of them. Plus you will also have to pay a total of $50 to have all this fun with the entrance fee to the park and the campsite fee.
