Our first visit to Bushnell. The park is dated with quiet a few run down long-term RV’s. The Escapees staff is always kind and helpful, but the park has a run down appearance. Getting new DL’s and registering our vehicle was a breeze, the tax office staff was great. Enjoyed the Sand Cranes wintering in Florida as neighbors.

Nice park, nice people. Stayed two nights. SItes were a mix. Ours was pretty tight between trees and another camper. Rocky mix with some grass. Had to unhook our tow vehicle which wasn't a problem. Not sure why we were put in that site when there were plenty of other, wider sites open. Used the Smart Weigh while there and it was well worth the cost. There's propane on site which we took advantage of too and filled our tanks. We were in a 40' motorhome and manuvering the park was a bit tricky at times, but doable. We camped at Sumter Oaks RV Park - Escapees Rainbow Park in a Motorhome.

Office help was not very friendly when I asked for help with mail. They do not have picnic tables or WiFi and TV reception is not good. You need a truck or car to get to nearest stores which are 7mi away in Bushnell. They are not setting a good example for first time Escapees members.

Office staff was unhelpful and stuck me in the worst site they had, despite the park being half empty. Price was much higher than advertised online, travelers and non-members subsidize the seasonals. Garbage bin was beyond overflowing all weekend. The showers are stuffy, and the only spacious one with room to sit and change clothes and put your stuff down is reserved for handicapped only.

Escapees park in a good location (except for the donkeys toward the east and cattle on the west, depending on wind direction might be quite odiferous). Site 67 is a challenge, rough rocks guarding the sewer hookup across from leaning oak. Short terms sites are drive thru. Warm bath house, adequate laundry. We took advantage of Escapees Smart Weight evaluation, which assures each tire weight and distribution - good information for any RV.

I agree with the negatives in other reviews. Park is old. No wifi, no cable, limited over the air TV reception, no fire rings, no picnic tables. Most sites are not satellite friendly unless you have a tailgater antenna. Half the sites offer only 30 amp service. Traffic noise is nearly constant during the day with dump trucks running back and forth from about 4am through 8 or 9 at night. The managers are almost always grumpy - rarely smile.

The workkampers, on the other hand, are always cheerful and friendly. There is LP gas on site but no deliveries to individual sites. Shopping is good. A Walmart Supercenter is 7 miles north in Bushnell.

Tampa is 45 miles south. Ocala is about the same north. Disney World is about 65 miles east.

The MAJOR advantage at Sumter Oaks is the price. The monthly rate ($370 including taxes) is less than half the cost of all the other RV parks in the area, which is why I rate this park at 3 stars.

This is our second winter here. We would stay again.

This park is old. It needs a lot of TLC
Trees need trimmed
Storm debris everywhere
Our cement pad needed a good power wash to remove mold.
No wifi
Office staff not that friendly.
I suspect there are several cliques which isnt new but not so nice for newcomers.
We've stayed at Summerdale & Racoon Valley which are more well kept & much friendlier. We are Escapees members.

This is an Escapees Club park but non-club members are welcome too. More than half of the park is shaded by mature oak trees. This had been a mobile home park in its first life. The "club" has been improving it since taking it over. Some parking spots are concrete, some are on hard packed soil and grass. Utilities are adequate, but be prepared to expect some sites with sewer heads in unusual positions. Something can always be worked out though. Park managers (Wanda and Wallace) are top-notch organizers as well as a pleasure to be around. The overall friendliness of the park residents, and managers adds to the feeling of "home town". Entertainment facilities are comfortable but not glitzy new. It's the people that make this relaxing park worth a stay of a few weeks or more. There is an RV weighing service here that will give you accurate individual wheel load data. I had the motorcoach weighed and found the information to be helpful in balancing the storage "stuff" that we carry. The professional advice given is worth the small cost.
