No one is talking about the steep cliff side shelf road to get there. We did not camp there, but drove up to the entrance to check it out, thankfully without our camper. Although it was paved, there is no way that we would pull our 30 ft trailer up this narrow road.

Steve is the best camp host we’ve ever encountered. Super helpful and has common sense about issues around camp. Vault toilets are as clean as they can be. This is really for small rvs only. If you’re over 20 feet you will have trouble navigating the turns in here. Late June 2021 there were only 1 or 2 campsites coming open each day. Last fall we had a choice of a couple of sites, but get here early. Great campsite-no showers but you can pay for one at the Hot Springs pool or RV park on north slide of town.

Sept. 11, 2019- beautiful quiet campground. The host is super nice, friendly, and helpful. Surrounded by tall ponderosa pines. Nice fire pits and picnic tables. The vault toilets were decently clean. It was mid-week in September but based on the crowds in the town of Ouray, only a couple of miles away and the packed full to the brim downtown RV park, I expected more sites to be full. If you need a hook-up, stay in town, else...

The campground is beautiful, however, the Forest Service website is NOT correct for RV sites! It says use sites 3-15 but that area is SMALL vehicles only! We have a 28 foot 5th wheel and never would have made the right turns. Really with our truck and RV we barely made it in. Site 28 is really only large enough site.

Very peaceful site with a very cool and extremely helpful couple as camp hosts! Easy access to trails that loop around town. Once again I will mention peaceful.
