Clean, spacious, well maintained with considerable shade and view of the great sand dunes, national park campground. Because we reserved late we thought 45 would have a lot of traffic. But we found it wide, quiet, and separated. Trails lead out of the campground to the dunes, dunes overlook and north and south.

Unplugged camping. Sites are small and not very level. There is fresh water fill up and a dump station. Once you climb on the sand dunes and look at night sky, there芒鈧劉s nothing else to do. One day should be more than enough. Would have given it one star but the night sky is AWESOME. It makes everything else worth it.

The sites are mostly tiny but do afford privacy given small trees and shrubs. I芒鈧劉ve been to almost all major National Park in the US and this one is hands down my LEAST favorite. It芒鈧劉s a miserable pile of sand, what a disappointment. One night is more than enough unless you love boredom and getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. My advice is to skip it.

Sites are small. Paved. We arrived late afternoon w/o a reservation and at the entrance a sign said 芒鈧揅ampground Full芒鈧. But we went in anyway and there were a few available sites. Try to arrive in the morning for better selection of sites. Bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly.

Other reviewer is wrong you can reserve sites on recreation.gov. No hook ups, but they have a dump on site. Some sites right on road. I had to move because slide was sticking out. Un level sites. Why pave a site if it isn芒鈧劉t level. Make it level first! Restrooms no showers. Overall nice, saw deer and beautiful night sky. think bigger Rigs can fit in only a select few sites. Camp host was annoying driving around In his golf cart from 5am to 8pm. Long walk to dunes.

What a gem. So different from most National Parks. The ability to climb the dunes, slide down them and allowing pets access to the trails is a plus for us. Arriving at around 5PM we were challenged to find a spot for our 25 Airstream but did slip into one that fit our needs. If you can, get there between 10 AM and noon to get a good site. Baths clean as is the whole area.

Stayed in loop 1. Beautiful park, would stay here again for sure. Host was helpful and polite. Rangers patrol very frequently. It rained on us and it was still a good stay. We're 32ft and found a spot to fit but not sure I'd try with anything much bigger.

Beautiful sites many with views of the Great Sand Dunes. No showers. Flush toilets and food sinks.

On of the best National Parks to camp. Quite and beautiful. Hard to get anything more than 32 feet in but you can do it with some work. Weather is great this time of the year. Mid August 74 is the high 45 at night. Great sleeping weather. Enjoyed the sand dunes!!!

Clean bathrooms, potable water available. No showers. Hosts were great. Sites are first come first served until May. We had no problem getting a good spot in early April, but gets filled up quickly in summer. Great views of the dunes from loop 1 sites.
