We loved the Lake Fork Campground at Curecanti National Recreation Area. We stayed in the lower or eastern-most area which is basically a paved parking lot with scattered water spigots but no other hookups. We had the place to ourselves for 4 nights! The lake views were gorgeous, access to and from the area was easy and it was a perfect location to explore Montrose, The Grand Mesa, etc to the west and north as well as Gunnison and Crested Butte to the east! As others have mentioned - very little cellular service here. We had 4 bars of Verizon 3G so voice was fine but data throughput was dismal at best. But - Dish satellite had a clear view so football was no problems on Sunday & Monday!

Great campsite on Blue Mesa Reservoir.
$16/night, or $8 with Park Pass. Pay online or at the camp, they accept cash/check.
Very limited cell service (Verizon), don’t count on data.
Sites are dry, but there are water spigots scattered around and a dump station.
A lot of walk up sites overlooking the lake...beautiful views, stars, etc. fishing is good and the camp has cleaning station.
Bathhouse costs $, but toilets are free.
Roughly 30min from Gunnison and 45 to Montrose.
Note: Gunnison Walmart is fairly sparse in terms of products.
Montrose Walmart is a superW with a great selection.
