i have camped at Tannery since 1963. It was a yearly, month long stay for the family. After starting my own family we continued the tradition. tannery is a true camping experience. No hookups, mostly large sites and it's thick with giant trees. It is a good place for boating if the lake isn't to low. You can sit in the launch dock at night and see countless stars. It is so clear you can actually watch satellites in orbit. If you like to trout fish the streams in the area are a lot of fun. I have passed the Tannery tradition on to my children and they have in turn passed it to my grand children. We are now four generations deep here.

Came for Memorial Day weekend.
Not busy, quiet. Spaces are large but many not level. The cafes nearby (5 miles or so) are all closed til dinner.
Not many services once you leave Weaverville.
We would return.
