Beautiful setting overlooking the beach. Sites and paved parking pads are a bit run down. Lots of holes from some type of rodents. Grass like areas filled with goat head burrs and foxtails so watch your dog. Very nice bathhouse snd restrooms.

Use exit Basilone and follow signs to San Onofre State Beach. Stayed 14-19 July 2024. Site 121, back row. Surf noise from the front. Train noise at certain times and traffic noise from the freeway (I-5) behind. Pleasant temperature during my stay. Some power stand aren't maintained. $$$, $71/night for E/W. Check in building is on the left after the camp parking. Decent showers and bathrooms. Coin operated laundry. No direct access to the beachfront but has one near the lifeguard area.

First time here and really like it. Have been to fam camps at Key West, Pascagoula for reference. We got end site in beach and felt fairly private with grassy hill behind and a
Couple hundred feet from beach next to lifeguard house. Construction I progress required roundabout way to get in but well communicated. Had to go through public beach with gate and code for after hours provided. This all worked fine. But Signage was not great for first time as we could not easily figure out where check in was but did after walking around some. No maps or other handouts provided but briefing was adequate and can take picture of map. Laundry and showers ok but no restaurant close but many options one exit away. Surf noise in front and highway noise behind at times audible and others not. Site 41 was at end next to dumpster which was ok but requires leveling. There was a lot of traffic to the other beach parking lot after dark and. It sure where they were ll going at that hour but it was a Friday and there had been a holiday party so assuming continuing to party. Would come again for sure. One star off for poor check in signage causing unnecessary confusion. Dogs not allowed on beach signage was quite clear! Chatted with security (corpsman) who was very professional and pleasant and doing above and beyond job description.

It芒鈧劉s by the beach. The 芒鈧揼ood芒鈧 stops there. Many sites look like very long time residents. The site next to us was disgusting. Stuff, household items and debris all over the place. All that for the privilege of paying $34/night. I芒鈧劉ll pass

They have lost a visitor to you park, have been going to you park for over 15 years, No more you have priced me out. Not able to budget you in any more, not for the retires. SHAM on you. The last straw was 2.00 a day for your Pets.

OK but getting frayed around the edges. Doesn't look like they are putting money back into maintenance.
Restrooms and showers need a good power washing and a new coat of paint. Several of the power posts need repair.
Lots of old rip rap on the beach so it is difficult to take a long beach walk without traversing the rock.
The wind did not stop for the five days we were here with all flags standing straight out.

Went here for the first time. We were tent campers, put in the upper level and all you could hear at night was the freeway and the trains that were only a few meters away all night long. The beach line was mostly imported rocks, as the shore line was eroding. Kids did not want to play at the beach. Lower restrooms were very dirty. Will not stay here again.

Love the beauty of ocean surf, But yes not for retirees the cost and check in time you don't get full day for your $ forget about trying to call worst customer service that's if you can even get a live person to answer the phone tried for literally hours to get someone answer, Yes this is for profit only gone are the days for military enjoyment, as for getting information on new rental of remodel old club no seem to know as there is a delay on opening. We have an RV they are not like other camp sites on base to tell you which campsite or pick which site you'd like when you book, we had our kids out for the day which we put up tent so little ones could nap didn't know at the end they would charge extra fee for the day found out after on my bank statement would of been good customer service to let us know and appreciated any extra day fees or that small tent would have to be down by certain time. We really did enjoy going to camp here, aside from rough road from construction it is no longer the maintained tree branches rubbing against RV from smell of portable potties, or friendly stuff. Really Hoping for improvement.

Loved it here. Had a great campsite right on the beach-just walk out the door and down to the ocean. Could hear the surf all night. Staff was friendly & helped to get my permanent picture ID with no lines or waiting. Would def return.
