Stayed one night in a class B, Mar. 2024. The ranger at the main entrance was very friendly and helpful, suggested Mecca Beach for camping, but said bathrooms everywhere are in bad shape. The parking for rvs is a big parking lot, with very large spaces and a picnic table. It was mostly empty. Campground host was friendly and we bought firewood there. The sunset view was beautiful. There is a barnacle beach, and some birds. There are a a few trees planted near the campsites, but it is fairly open. The next morning was quite windy, and as we traveled around the Salton Sea and to Anza Borrego is became Really windy. We also drove through the Box Canyon road in Mecca Hills just to the north and its really nice. We would stay here again if we were out this way.

Attractive beachfront camping.

Would have given it five stars but for the camp host and volunteers who stay here. They are hostile. They have half of the park closed off with "Do Not Enter" signs everywhere.

Plan to wear closed shoes if you want to walk on the beach. Lots of fish bones and barnicle shells.
