Carr is a decent drive off the highway. Say 20 minutes or so. There's about 4 miles of hard core dirt and rock road but if you take it easy it's fine. Carr Lake is decent. A bit bushy at the sites. It gets some car camping folks around the small parking lot with their 5 tons of gear pulled out of their cars. If you huff about a half mile up to Feeley Lake, you get much more scenery and a beautiful Sierra lake. Tug a boat or canoe up there and sky's the limit.
