I thought the last review was a little harsh so thought I would submit my 2 cents. I was baptized at Gaviota. 50 years ago. The water was as cold then as it is now. The place has its own quiet charm and we did see some nice RV's including our own Mercedes Interstate. We bought it this year in anticipation of my 70th birthday. They need to get the pier fixed. As much money as the Sacramento liberals take in every year it should have been done by now. We had a nice, peaceful three days and it brought back some good memories of my initial commitment to follow Jesus.

Basically a circular parking lot with a dirt field in the middle for tents. Dirt and ants everywhere. No grass at all. No hook-ups and no dump, all these for $45. Beach scenery is nice however the beach is literally piled feet deep in rotting kelp. It stinks like a dead fish and of course rotting seaweed. This pleasant odor wafts over the campground. Small campground with many many tent campers literally 5 ft way. They have showers but I guess $45 isn’t enough , you have to pay (not much). Campground is run by volunteers? Really California! They were pleasant and nice. Didn’t have any winds that others complain about. I don’t think I would make this a quick stop, it cost $10 to go to beach. Does Cali charge for everything. Highest taxes in country and the beaches aren’t free. Pass it up you aren’t missing nothing! So far only worst park is Point Mugu state park.
