Stayed here two nights Mar 26-27. I'd give it 5 stars if it weren't for the highway noise; suggest trying to get a site in the loop near the back of the campground to minimize that noise. Otherwise, clean, spacious and private sites; clean bathrooms/showers but you had to pay to shower and dump. Not much for hiking and the Verizon signal was medium.

Jan. 2021. Perfect stop. Pull in sites. No need to unhitch if staying just the night. But also great area to spend a few days. Sites are spread out, clean with picnic table and fire pit. No water or electric so come prepared. Clean flush toilets. If you have time, highly recommend driving 30 minutes to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park (no camping) for day hike. This whole area is beautiful.

First of all I would like to give a special thanks to Valerie the camp host she was very helpful and pleasant. We stayed there Feb 2018 and enjoyed it very much. The sites are well spaced for privacy and cozy feeling. We rode our bikes around the campground and saw 4 coyotes and also came across javelina's and didn't see them but saw tracks from elk. It is a short ride to town for supplies or eating out. Only thing I didn't like was the road noise but really didn't bother me. I hope I make it back here again some day.

First visitor on the 2018 season! They opened the gates about a half hour before I arrived (lucky for me!) and the camp host welcomed me enthusiastically. Only 27 spots on the Elk Loop were open, but after taking a walking tour, I found all the campsites have lots of trees for a sense of privacy. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the nearby highway noise. It was quiet at night, so no big deal to me, but it might be bothersome if you are in a tent. Otherwise the restrooms and pay showers are immaculate as are the grounds and interpretive trail. Two thumbs up for this special place!

We loved this campground. Some sites have Hwy noise, but all sites have privacy, the surrounding Forrest is beautiful, the restrooms are spotless and the campsites are groomed. Campground hostsvery friendly. We will defiantly stay here again. We camp in truck/camper pulling jeep.

Gorgeous campground. We stayed here in April 2016. We had a nice big pull thru site. When we were there the showers were not in use they were being renovated. There were signs warning campers of bears but we had javelina visit our camp one night so beware
