July 3,2024: Since my previous review (June 2019) the commercial truck area has been fully paved. There is an assigned 鈥渃aretaker鈥漟or the rest area. His name is posted on one of the travel information signs. He was diligently working when we arrived at 8:00pm, and the restrooms and grounds were neat and clean. The 鈥減et area鈥 however is a small, weedy mess, so minus two stars. The area was quiet until about 6:00am, when the state boat inspection station opened, causing some traffic. All in all a nice rest area, but because the caretaker is actively watching for dog on the nice green mowed lawn violations, not so great for dog walking. There is an alternative though. To the left just as you enter from the highway and pass the commercial lot on the right, there is an old roadway or trail to the left that leads into the trees and that might be a good place to walk a dog.

Overall a very well maintained facility. Little to no shaded parking spots midday in summer. Pets absolutely not allowed on the green lawn areas (we saw maintenance workers showing no hesitation to loudly confront offenders). The large gravel lot nearest Hwy 2 is posted 芒鈧揅ommercial Vehicle Parking Only芒鈧. Traffic and noise are light at night, but cars do regularly enter and exit at all hours, some at fairly high speed. So 芒鈧損eaceful芒鈧 may or may not describe a typical visit here.

Large and fairly quiet. Clean. Heated bathrooms for all season use. Unlikely to be bothered if you sleep overnight in RV/vehicle.
