This review covers both the river and lake campgrounds since they are managed by the same people. We were here in late August and had the place almost to ourselves. At that time, there was construction along the river. Roads in and out to the campgrounds are dirt/gravel and very slow driving. We had initially wanted to camp at River. Only a few sites actually on the river. The seemed nice and well separated. Some had inclines, others pretty flat. We couldn’t get WiFi at that campground so moved to Lake campground. This campground isn’t actually on the lake. We were able to get WiFi in one loop (Verizon and ATT), which, not surprisingly, had some other people too. None of the hand water pumps we could find in the area worked. Did not check out the toilets. Staff is super friendly and patrol frequently. They charge $5 for the dump if you aren’t camping. Dump is located along the main road (currently between the construction area). If camping, they give you a code. If not camping, they will drive out to meet you at the pump. Yup, they will actually drive out for the $5 fee. They will also deliver firewood to your campsite for $5. So love the service at this campground. My lower ranking is really because the campgrounds aren’t on the water and potable water really isn’t available. Sites are lovely and well separated. Tons of pull throughs for longer vehicles. Closes after Labor Day but you can apparently camp for free for a couple more weeks. Then they close off the entrance.
