Well worth making a reservation far in advance for this highly-desirable spot in Denali. The campground is beautiful, and has super-nice hosts. We enjoyed walking along the river as the vast views made for a little less bear concerns. It definitely helps shorten up the shuttle times into the park. We booked a trip in advance to Wonder Lake and saw quite a few animals in spite of rainy weather. Because of the weather , we left a day early. There's no running to the store, so come prepared! And no cell signal at all. Total peace and quiet!

Want to cut time off the long bus ride into Denali? Stay here. There is a 40' limit - RV or car and trailer together and they do enforce it. Must stay 3 days and cannot drive back to the entrance once inside - only to leave. That being said, it is easy to catch the shuttle buses in and your pass to do it, only offered for campers at this campground (TEK pass) is cheaper. The campground itself is nice, it's not really private or big and is set in nice trees so no views. Walk the road or hike the river behind the campground! For tenters there is a big building for food storage and pot toilet - all nice and new.
